The Google Jet

Danny Sullivan posted a cool write up on the Google Jet. I don’t know how newsworthy it is, but I always get a kick out this kind of thing. I was interested to find out that Google CEO Eric Schmidt is actually a jet pilot and that Larry Page flies his own helicopter, too.

LinkWorth has its’ own helicopter, too, guys…fyi. It’s about 4-5 inches long and is remote controlled. It can’t accommodate passengers, but it can annoy the heck out of employees!

great idea! I’ll see if I can get Ron (the pilot) to take the bird for a spin around the office and we’ll shoot some video.

Oh man, I dream of the day where I could have a helicopter fly me to and from work so I don’t have to deal with driving around here.

Derek, I’ve always thought that a helicopter to and from work is the life. Until I took a helicopter tour in Maui and my knuckles were white from the death grip I had on the handle rails the entire time. It was this little 4 person seater and my wife sat in front and I was in the back. The pilot kept asking if I was ok. He took us up into mountains which they say are the wettest in the world. There was this huge canyon type we flew into where the clouds were racing from the top of mountains on the left to the top of the mountains on the right. The pilot kept stopping saying he could tell by the wind blowing the clouds that it was getting dangerous to fly any further….then he kept going. All the sudden, all the lights on the dashboard started flashing and the engine died as we started to fall. :| then all the sudden he catches it and says “that was a first”. He continued and flew us into one of the tallest waterfalls in the world. I can’t remember how high, but it went on forever. Did I care? Hell no! I wanted out of that damn helicopter. Moral of the story, I’m scared of helicopters now.

The fact that Google founders have their personal jets should not be surprising, given their riches.

The amazing thing about the internet is it can catapult small business into the millionaires club within a short span of time.

So Linkworth should think big, the 4-5 inch helicopter will be upgraded in no time.
