In the dead of night, sitting alone in front of his PC, Luke von Drogen surfed the Internet aimlessly looking for proof of another dimension as he’s done for the last 15 years when it finally happened…
“It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen!” Said the self proclaimed UFO fanatic / paranormal expert… “Out of nowhere, there they were!… Every page I clicked on, these links would be there one minute and gone the next, they morphed into something else! “
Mr von Drogen claimed that he’s found proof that there is a group of clever online marketers at a firm located somewhere in the United States that call themselves “LinkWorth” and supposedly have developed a way to promote an unlimited amount of keywords and pages using one single text link ad. From what we understand, their concept involves the display of multiple anchor text and link descriptions while targeting an unlimited amount of URLs which rotate every time the page is loaded. If this is true, we believe Mr. von Drogen might actually have stumbled upon proof that Rotating Links that can not be identified as dynamic code and appear as static text links to the human eye or a search engine bot really do exist.
At this time we are still unsure of what to think, but one thing is for sure. Mr. von Drogen is convinced…. “They were Rotating Links that appeared static but changed every time the page loaded!”
All kidding aside, our MURA or SURA text links are still fairly unknown to a lot of our advertisers. “A what? A MURA Link? Never heard of it!…” As funny as it sounds, it is a common response that we get as we implement rotating ads for our advertiser’s campaigns.
First, what does MURA or SURA stand for? MURA is short for Multi-URL-Rotating-Ads. It’s little brother, the SURA link, is short for Single-URL-Rotating-Ads. Both are server side links which will appear as Static Text Link ads when viewed by a search engine or the human eye. However, each time the page is loaded or refreshed, the Rotating Ad will rotate to the next term, the next anchor text and the next target URL (If applicable).
While Static Text Links are mostly used in campaigns that have less than 10 keywords for our advertisers, MURA and SURA links are usually the way to go for campaigns with a large number of keyword search phrases which the advertiser wants to target.
Rotating links allow us to promote your website for a large number of keywords while keeping your cost down, as 1 rotator can promote an unlimited number of keyword phrases for your website. MURA links also facilitate “deep indexing” of your site because we can “load up” not only your home page for each keyword, but also any sub pages or content pages of your site for each keyword.
For best results, we recommend that you place Rotating links on a Site Run basis on Partner sites that have a large number of pages indexed by Google that are not listed as supplemental. Also, keeping the number of terms per Rotating ad to no more than 20 per ad will prevent your Rotating link from becoming diluted or “spread too thin” to remain effective. For example, if your campaign is going to promote your site for 100 keywords, you would want to create at least 5 unique Rotating links with 20 terms each.
