A lot of folks in our industry, and just about any other industry that relies on an online presence, have long been frustrated with the lack of information Google shares publicly. But maybe that is changing… at least for webmasters, SEO’s, etc…
Adamap.com has a screenshot of the Google Keyword tool showing search numbers instead of just the generic green bar measuring a keyword’s search volume. I haven’t seen this personally, yet, but I hope it is something that will go live soon. In our jobs at LinkWorth of developing custom linking strategies, keyword search volume is something we spend a lot of time researching. It would definitely be nice to have some new alternatives to the Overture Keyword tool since it’s so fickle when it comes to usability.

It’d be a wonderful tool to have…accurate search data from Google…but I just don’t see it happening on a large scale. I hope it does, but I won’t hold my breath…
Yeah. I can understand the hesitancy, but if they were to only offer it on a smaller scale, what would they use to decide who gets numbers and who gets ugly little green bars?
I don’t know… I’ve seen some other things coming from Google (in Webmaster Central, mostly) that I never thought I’d see. About a month ago, they made it so that if you’re authenticated to see the stats of a site with GWC, you can see all of the links that they have indexed for your domain. Not just the links that are available publicly in the link: tool. I about hit the floor when I saw that.
You know what else I’d like to see? A number list next to each search result like Yahoo does… it’d sure make my job a lot easier. Same for MSN!
I would like to see Google have a drawing where they select 138,000 people to receive 1 million bucks each. They’ll make it back, right?
Imagine that.. they could give 138,000 people one million each and still have a future.
Hmmm…this could be an interesting blog post.
