ODLS... Billboards, or as we call them now, "LinkBB", are a really great product that we use on a majority of our campaigns. They're basically the whole "Payperpost" product before it's time. Just painted in a different light.

We have many reputation management campaigns that we build around our LinkBB product. We'll get several well written LinkBB's and place them on strong, well indexed websites within the advertisers category. Once these are up, we'll build LinkAd campaigns around those LinkBB's and make these pages strong documents on an already strong website. In addition, we'll do some interlinking between LinkBB's to do a bit of expert document building as well.

The results speak for the product. The LinkPost (blog reviews) product is a great buzz creator and on certain sites it can work well like a LinkBB, however, there are many facets of the LinkBB that go beyond just a simple blog review / post.

So to answer your question, LinkBB's are one of our strongest producing products we have. They just haven't taken the popularity as some of the other products. Those who use them swear by them.

My take on Billboards:

This is a great endeavor, unlike any other currently being used in SEO practice. Billboards are an extremely powerful tool that can take a multi-pronged (as our president would say) approach to running your online business. The great thing about BB's is that they don't just help with building your positioning in the search engines by providing backlinks.

I have been using Billboards for about 30 days now, and while I am still awaiting the results of the BB's i have placed, I wanted to point out the potential uses that I have found thus far:

--

1. Building Relevancy - This one is a no brainer. When you put up a billboard, you don't necessarily have to worry about the PR of the site you are placing it on. With billboards, we are dealing with a high quality content backlink to your site. This has always been more important than high PR backlinks.

1b. As a side note, I wanted to mention that if you have related pages to your Billboards that are not related to the site being promoted on the billboard, you might think about pointing links to the Billboard itself to help build its "expert status". This 'expert page' may then have a stronger relevancy for the page that the billboard is targeting.
--

2. A Low cost and effective method of doing press releases - We have utilized billboards on websites that are found in the Linkworth News/Media section. The billboard, rather than being filled with just keywords and links pointing to the target page, has been written as a press release promoting our company, products or ideas. The benefit of this, is that we use our company name and product brand names within the page, which will eventually show up on major search engines when potential customers search our company specific keywords.

--

3. Competitor keyword targeting - For those of us in competitive industries, billboards are a great way to list on competitor keywords. Simply include some information (it doesn't have to be negative!) about your competitor and build the billboard's popularity by pointing relevant links to it. You'll be appearing on competitor keywords in no time!
--

Hopefully this will help some of you newbies understand the potential of this great technology.
