Today’s hypothetical has to do with flying and being invisible.
You are awarded with either the ability to fly or the ability to be invisible when you want. Of course, this is a hypothetical, so they don’t come without a catch.
If you choose the ability to fly, you also will become horribly afraid of heights and getting more than 10 feet above the ground will give you an instant stomach ache that only goes away when you’re back on the ground. It’s something that you’ll never get over and will often cause violent nauseous episodes.
If you choose the ability to be invisible, the minute you become invisible, you also lose the ability to see anything. All other senses still work, but as soon as others are unable to see you, you cannot see anything.
Which would you choose?

I would choose to fly. Because I could walk on water. Fly comfortably an inch off the ground, never having to walk up stairs again. They would just call me “hover man”.
I’d select the ability to be invisible. While not being able to see whould be a problem, I believe you would be able to compensate for that with your other senses - not to mention it doesn’t involve being sick.
In addition, while there are plenty of instances where I would really want to see while invisible, I think there are also plenty of instances where the ability to see would not be as important.
Apparently I used my powers of invisibility while typing my comment as I could not see that I had a typo.
Great hypothetical. This is a classic childhood quandary!
Give me flight. I’d love to cruise around at an altitude of 9′ 11”. Invisibility would be killer, too, but that concept has seemed really seedy to me ever since that Clay Aiken song came out.
Yeah, I’d have to make my recurring dream come true and have the ability to fly. I would find some sort of medicine or device to trick myself into thinking I’m still on the ground (like hanging your leg off of the water bed on the floor when you’re spinning after too many drinks).
Plus, if you were able to fly, at night you would literally be invisible anyway.
I think I’d want to be blind….. so I don’t have to see that reference to Clay Aiken in another blog…
Love to be invisible at the click of the fingers, but, if I couldn`t see anything it`d take some of the fun away. On balance though I`d go for that, I`ll leave the flying to the birds.
